LPG is a derivative of two large energy industries: the processing of natural gas liquids and the refining of crude oil. It is a clean-burning, sustainable and efficient fuel and a vital source of energy for hundreds of millions of people throughout the world today, and a multi-purpose energy with literally thousands of applications. It is portable, can easily be transported, stored and used virtually anywhere in the world with sufficient reserves to last for many decades. Of its many advantages, LPG has lower greenhouse gas emissions than petrol, diesel, and electricity, on an energy-equivalent basis. Hence, it is environmentally friendly with heating value relatively higher compared to other types of energy, considered as a transition fuel in some circumstances: where households will switch to natural gas as soon as it is made available, primarily in urban areas, and others will switch to electricity for cooking, heating, or both, as electricity supply becomes reliable. But for many who do not have access to natural gas, LPG is the fuel of choice, and is well suited today of all the modern fuels available particularly to domestic cooking and heating uses because of its clean-burning attributes and practical advantages over traditional biomass fuels.

WSA in the course of its LPG trading aspects has identified The Global LPG Partnership (GLPGP) a United Nations backed Public-Private Partnership formed in 2012, under the UN Sustainable Energy for All initiative, which sets as one of its three objectives for 2030 a “Universal Access to Modern Energy Services” for clean cooking & heating systems. Where according to the International Energy Agency, gaining access to Modern Energy will do so by switching to LPG. Hence, aggregating and deploying needed global resources to help clients transition to LPG for cooking and heating.
